Conservative commentator Michael Knowles believes that the $400 million Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet gifted to President Donald Trump by the government of Qatar is not a bribe, but rather a great deal on a necessary replacement for Air Force One.
Knowles, known for his podcast on Ben Shapiro‘s Daily Wire, appeared on “TMZ Live” to discuss the controversial gift and joked that the only issue with the jet is that it needs a new paint job. He emphasized that receiving a plane for free is a significant cost savings.
The gift has sparked controversy due to concerns that it may violate the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution, which prohibits officials from accepting gifts from foreign entities without congressional approval. Despite this, Trump plans to use the jet during his term and then transfer it to his presidential library foundation.
While some question the need for a new plane when the existing Air Force One is still functional, Knowles criticizes Boeing for delays in delivering new jets and praises Qatar’s offer as a no-strings-attached gift. He also draws parallels to Hunter Biden engaging in foreign business deals based on his family name.
Despite the controversy, the gift of the Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet raises questions about the necessity of a new Air Force One and the financial implications of accepting such a lavish gift. Watch the full interview on “TMZ Live” for more insights.
