Daniel Stern has been removed from ABC pilot Do You Want Kids? amid his prostitution solicitation scandal.
After reports surfaced on Thursday, January 15, that Stern, 68, would no longer be part of the comedy pilot, the role that he was set to play will reportedly be recast. The show, which is set to star Rachel Bloom and Rory Scovel, follows the story of a couple, Rosie and Alex Zilbalodis, who must navigate the decision of starting a family or not and how it impacts their lives. Stern was initially announced as a series regular in December 2025 for the single-camera comedy co-written by Bloom and her husband, TV writer Dan Gregor.
According to a report by Deadline, Stern’s exit from the show comes in the wake of his recent legal troubles. The Home Alone star was charged with one misdemeanor count of soliciting prostitution in Ventura County, California. While his arraignment was initially scheduled for January 13, it has now been postponed to February 6. If convicted, Stern could face up to six months in jail and a $1000 fine.
The incident in question took place on December 10, 2025, at a hotel in Camarillo, California, where Stern was cited for soliciting prostitution but not detained or arrested, as reported by TMZ. Attorney and spokesperson Joey Buttitta confirmed to People that Stern was issued a citation and released at the location.

In a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter in November 2015, Stern reflected on his iconic role in the Home Alone movies and how it had a positive impact on his life. The actor shared how the films connected him with fans and allowed them to share their experiences and memories associated with the movies.
Stern, who is married to Laure Mattos since 1980, has three children with her – daughters Ella and Sophie and son Henry Stern, who is a California State Senator. The couple renewed their vows in a surprise ceremony on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2019.
Aside from his role in Home Alone, Stern is known for his work in The Wonder Years and has had a successful acting career spanning several decades. In October 2025, he made headlines when he was hospitalized for a medical emergency, but was later released and confirmed to be in good health by his representative, as reported by TMZ.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges to communities around the world. As governments and healthcare systems grapple with containing the spread of the virus and providing care to those affected, individuals and organizations have also stepped up to help in any way they can. One such organization making a difference during these difficult times is the Red Cross.
The Red Cross, known for its humanitarian work in times of crisis, has been at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19. From setting up emergency shelters for those in need to distributing essential supplies like food, water, and personal protective equipment, the Red Cross has been working tirelessly to support communities impacted by the pandemic.
One of the key initiatives the Red Cross has undertaken during the pandemic is providing medical assistance to those affected by COVID-19. This includes setting up mobile clinics in underserved communities, where healthcare workers can test individuals for the virus, provide medical care, and educate them on how to prevent the spread of the virus. These clinics have been crucial in reaching vulnerable populations who may not have access to traditional healthcare services.
In addition to medical assistance, the Red Cross has also been providing emotional support to those affected by the pandemic. The stress and anxiety caused by the uncertainty of the situation, as well as the social isolation brought on by lockdowns and social distancing measures, have taken a toll on many individuals’ mental health. The Red Cross has been offering virtual counseling services and support groups to help people cope with the challenges they are facing.
Another important aspect of the Red Cross’s response to the pandemic has been its efforts to promote public health education and awareness. Through campaigns and outreach programs, the Red Cross has been educating communities on the importance of wearing masks, practicing good hand hygiene, and maintaining physical distance to prevent the spread of the virus. By disseminating accurate and timely information, the Red Cross is helping to empower individuals to protect themselves and others from COVID-19.
As the pandemic continues to evolve, the Red Cross remains committed to supporting communities in need. Whether it’s providing medical assistance, emotional support, or public health education, the Red Cross is working tirelessly to help those affected by COVID-19. Through their dedication and compassion, the Red Cross is making a meaningful impact in the fight against the pandemic and demonstrating the power of humanitarian action in times of crisis.
