In a heartfelt note to colleagues, Leavy reflected on his time at Discovery, which began in 2000 when the company was a small cable entity based in Bethesda, MD. Over the years, he witnessed the remarkable growth and transformation of Discovery into a global powerhouse, thanks to the hard work and dedication of its employees.

During his time at Discovery, Leavy played a pivotal role in managing communications as the company expanded its presence in the media industry. He oversaw key acquisitions, including Scripps Networks and WarnerMedia, which significantly boosted Discovery’s influence and reach. In 2023, Leavy took on a new challenge when he was appointed to oversee business operations at CNN under then-CEO Chris Licht. This move highlighted Leavy’s versatility and strategic acumen in navigating different sectors within the media landscape.

David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, praised Leavy for his exceptional leadership and contribution to the company.
