David Letterman is not mincing words when it comes to criticizing the current leadership at CBS News. In a recent video shared on his YouTube page, Letterman described CBS News as a “wreck” following its rightward shift under Paramount CEO David Ellison and editor-in-chief Bari Weiss.
Letterman highlighted the storied history of CBS News, particularly the groundbreaking work of journalist Edward R. Murrow during World War II. He lamented that the integrity of CBS News has been compromised by the current leadership, whom he referred to as “idiots.”
Joining other former CBS stars, Letterman expressed his concerns about the conservative tilt of CBS News in recent months. He also criticized CBS for canceling the “Late Show,” a decision widely seen as politically motivated due to a merger with Skydance Media requiring approval from the Trump administration.
Under its new conservative leadership, CBS News has faced backlash for censoring content critical of the Trump administration and condensing its journalistic principles. The network’s handling of news coverage has been called into question, with anchor Tony Dokoupil facing criticism for his coverage and handling of sensitive topics.
Despite these challenges, Letterman remains vocal about his disappointment with the direction of CBS News and its departure from its legacy of journalistic integrity.
