Cam Schlittler recently received outstanding recognition from David Ortiz, who lauded the Yankees rookie with the title of “ace” after his remarkable game on Thursday night.
Just hours post the New York pitcher’s outstanding eight-inning shutout in a crucial victory against the Red Sox, Ortiz showered Schlittler with praise.

David Ortiz, fresh off a flight at LAX, remarked he has seen enough from the young pitcher to consider him a front-line starter.
“He’s got the goods, man,” Ortiz proclaimed. “He’s got it. He’s definitely got it.”
“He was dominating us last night.”
Schlittler capped off the 4-0 victory with 12 strikeouts and no walks, along with a touch of good-natured banter.
Despite Ortiz’s disappointment with the game’s outcome, he expressed optimism about the Red Sox’s future.
Ortiz mentioned that the team needs to “add more power” in the off-season and is hopeful for a strong comeback in 2026.
“We’re closer to where we need to be than we think, honestly,” he stated.
The Yankees’ next matchup is against the Blue Jays. As for Ortiz, he has some responsibilities ahead as he prepares to join New York legends Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter for Fox’s coverage of the playoffs.
