The Israeli Ambassador to the US stated that the recent attack on two Israeli Embassy staffers at a Jewish museum in Washington, DC, highlights political violence as the “eighth front” of Israel’s war efforts.
Yechiel Leiter told reporters outside the Capital Jewish Museum that the attack was carried out with the political agenda of eradicating the state of Israel. The victims, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, were shot as they left an event hosted by the American Jewish Committee.
The assailant, Elias Rodriguez, 31, a left-wing activist, shouted “Free, free Palestine” after the attack, according to authorities.
According to Leiter, Israel is currently engaged in a war on seven fronts, with the recent attack marking the eighth front. This battlefront aims to counter efforts to demonize and delegitimize Israel’s right to exist.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu previously identified seven fronts that Israel is fighting against, including conflicts with various militant groups and countries.
