Prosecutors in the Eastern District of Virginia, often labeled as part of the so-called “Deep State,” are orchestrating a media campaign against US Attorney Lindsey Halligan following her successful indictment of Letitia James, the Attorney General of New York.

This past Thursday, Letitia James was indicted by a federal grand jury in Virginia.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) revealed that James faces charges for two offenses: Bank Fraud under 18 U.S.C. Section 1344 and False Statements to a Financial Institution under 18 U.S.C. Section 1014.

Lindsey Halligan, who recently assumed her role as Interim US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, achieved this indictment on her own.

In response to Halligan’s triumphs—indictments against James Comey and Letitia James—these prosecutors are reportedly leaking information to the media. Sources close to the situation have indicated that US Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche were ‘taken by surprise’ when Halligan secured the indictment against James.

Now, left-leaning media outlets, such as CNN, are questioning Halligan’s solitary role in the indictment of Letitia James.

CNN reported:

Attorney General Pam Bondi was reportedly unprepared Thursday when President Trump’s appointee, Lindsey Halligan, brought a grand jury’s indictment against New York Attorney General Letitia James, according to two sources familiar with the events.

Halligan, in her first couple of weeks in office, did not coordinate with senior Justice Department officials or inform them of the timing before presenting the case to the grand jury.

The indictment, which includes charges of bank fraud and making false statements to a financial institution, reflects the ongoing efforts of the Justice Department to address issues relating to Trump’s political adversaries.

The DOJ appears to be in a phase of restructuring, as some prosecutors in the Eastern District of Virginia express resistance to the current administration and are leaking information to sympathetic journalists.

Just last week, another senior prosecutor in the Eastern District was removed from their position.

Previously, President Trump dismissed Erik Siebert as US Attorney for the Eastern District because he hesitated to pursue charges against public figures, including Letitia James, James Comey, and Adam Schiff.

Shortly after Siebert’s dismissal, Lindsey Halligan moved swiftly to indict former FBI Director James Comey.

The swirling atmosphere of discontent within the DOJ was further evidenced by the firing of prosecutor Maya Song after the dismissal of national security prosecutor Michael Ben’Ary, who publicly expressed dissatisfaction in a letter to his colleagues, urging them to resist the directives of Trump-appointed officials.

In a concerning turn of events, MSNBC reports that senior prosecutor Elizabeth Yusi, who oversees criminal cases in the Norfolk office and previously claimed “no probable cause” for mortgage fraud committed by Letitia James, may also face termination.
