Deion Sanders, the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, recently shared his intentions to ensure that his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and star receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter are placed in favorable situations in the upcoming NFL Draft. In an interview on Fox Sports 1’s “Speak,” Sanders expressed his willingness to intervene privately if he feels that Shedeur or Hunter are not drafted by the right team.

Both Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are highly touted prospects expected to go in the first round of the draft. Dane Brugler of The Athletic has Hunter ranked as the top prospect in his latest list of the top 50 NFL Draft prospects, with Sanders following closely at number 23, ranking third among quarterbacks.

While Deion Sanders did not disclose specific teams he prefers for his son, he emphasized the importance of finding a team that can fully support Shedeur’s talents and provide the necessary infrastructure for his success. Sanders highlighted the need for a team with a history of effectively managing quarterbacks and a clear direction for the future.

The Colorado Buffaloes, led by Deion Sanders, have been performing well this season with a 7-2 record and a number 17 ranking in the College Football Playoff standings. Hunter, the standout receiver, is currently leading The Athletic’s Heisman Straw Poll.

Sanders has been actively involved in coaching his son throughout his football journey, from youth leagues to high school and college. He expressed his satisfaction with being at Colorado and reiterated his commitment to ensuring Shedeur’s success at the next level.

Drawing parallels to his own draft experience in 1989, Sanders recalled a moment when he declined a psychological assessment requested by the New York Giants, who held the 18th pick in the draft. Sanders confidently stated that he would be drafted earlier and eventually landed with the Atlanta Falcons as the fifth overall pick.

The proactive approach taken by Deion Sanders to advocate for his son and Travis Hunter’s future reflects a common theme in the NFL Draft process, where players and their families seek the best possible opportunities for success. As the draft approaches, all eyes will be on Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, as they aim to make a significant impact in the NFL.
