As TSA officers find themselves working without remuneration for the third time in just six months, crippling staffing shortages have led to excessive delays and lengthy security lines at airports nationwide, just as millions prepare for spring break.
Chaos erupted this past weekend at airports nationwide:
- “Frustration is everywhere. People are understandably upset,” commented a traveler at William P. Hobby Airport in Houston, where TSA wait times approached four hours.
- “This is absurd. We arrive, go through Customs, and it’s so congested that we can’t even follow the directions,” stated a traveler at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, where lines wound through multiple stories and overflowed into the parking garage.
