In a curious twist of political fate, Trump and the Republicans have pivoted to support legislation demanding the release of the Epstein files. Yet, one might reasonably suspect that the outcome was predetermined.
Indeed, the Department of Justice (DOJ) will release the files. However, donât expect clarity or transparency; the documents will be so heavily redacted that they resemble an abstract art pieceâan exercise in obscurity.

As Epstein survivor Annie Farmer aptly articulated, “I don’t feel tremendously confident that everything will come out… there’s been a lot of effort, money & time put into redactions. Not to protect victims, but to protect people in power.” This statement reveals the unsettling truth: the redactions serve not to safeguard the survivors but to shield influential figures, including Trump and his associates, from scrutiny.
To illustrate the extent of these redactions, consider that all 119 pages of a grand jury document were blacked out. CNNâs Jake Tapper provided a visual representation, stating:
“This is what the DOJ released. Itâs a hundred pages, and this is what it looks like. I donât know if you can see.”
“Itâs all black. Yeah. Itâs just 100 pages of redaction. Thatâs the transparency weâre getting here.”
