Democrats To Move To Force Pete Hegseth Out

Some Democrats are advocating for Donald Trump’s impeachment this year, but even supporters within the House recognize this is unlikely. The Democrats currently lack control of the House and, consequently, the necessary votes. A robust push for impeachment by House Democratic leadership would ultimately be ineffective due to these numerical limitations.

Another practical consideration is that Trump is currently involved in controversies that are negatively impacting his party. A failed impeachment bid would provide Trump the distraction he desires and could potentially unify his party ahead of the midterm elections.

Pursuing impeachment at this time could alienate voters who have consistently shown in numerous special elections that they are inclined to support Democrats due to economic concerns, affordability issues, and dissatisfaction with Trump’s party’s performance since regaining power.

Even with the votes, impeaching Trump would be ineffective. However, the House minority has found success with a different strategy. Democrats have used the threat of investigations and impeachment to remove Trump cabinet members. This approach succeeded with Kristi Noem and Pam Bondi, and now Democrats are focusing on Pete Hegseth.

The first call for Hegseth’s impeachment for war crimes emerged in December 2025. The ongoing conflict in Iran has increased the urgency to remove Hegseth from the Pentagon. Articles of impeachment are set to be filed next week.

Why is it more crucial to remove Hegseth than to impeach Trump at this moment?
