A Denver Sheriff Department Deputy Arrested for Stalking and Harassment
A deputy from the Denver Sheriff Department, Christian DeAnda, 25, has been accused of stalking and harassing an 18-year-old woman he met on Snapchat. The allegations include slashing her tire, following her home from work, and threatening her and her family, according to an arrest affidavit.
The arrest took place in the early hours of April 23 when Firestone Police Department officers found DeAnda driving erratically near the teen’s apartment.
The investigation began on April 21 after the teen’s mother reported her daughter being harassed.
The teen revealed that she had met DeAnda on Snapchat and they had a brief relationship in April, which ended when she broke it off. After the breakup, DeAnda allegedly began threatening her.
He started showing up unannounced, leaving notes on her vehicle, and sending threatening messages, including pictures of a gun.
DeAnda followed her home from work multiple times and even slashed her tire with a knife, sending her a picture of the knife with a disturbing caption.
As the harassment intensified, the victim’s family informed the police that DeAnda had tapped on the teen’s window for four consecutive nights and left flowers on her porch.
In messages shared with the police, DeAnda warned the woman to stay home 24/7 and threatened her brother.
At around 12:05 a.m. on April 23, the victim’s mother called the police when DeAnda was spotted outside her daughter’s apartment. DeAnda fled the scene after being confronted but was later apprehended near an extended stay motel.
He was arrested on suspicion of menacing and stalking, both felonies, as well as misdemeanor harassment, criminal mischief, and domestic violence.
DeAnda had been hired at the sheriff’s department in 2023 and was working at the Downtown Detention Center. He has been placed on investigatory leave following his arrest, according to sheriff’s officials.
