Daytime Warming Centers and Cold Weather Shelters Open in Denver

City officials in Denver have announced that daytime warming centers are open across the city on Wednesday, with overnight cold weather shelters remaining open as long as frosty temperatures persist.

Denver’s recreation centers and public libraries are available for individuals to seek refuge from the cold during regular hours on Wednesday. Specific locations and hours can be found online.

The cold weather shelter plan was activated by city officials on Friday and will continue to provide extra shelter as long as cold weather conditions persist, as stated by the Department of Housing Stability.

Individuals in need of shelter should visit one of the city’s designated access points, which include:

  • For individual men – Denver Rescue Mission Lawrence Street Community Center, located at 2222 Lawrence St.
  • For individual women – Samaritan House at 2301 Lawrence St.
  • For young people aged 12-24 – Urban Peak at 1630 S. Acoma St.
  • For families – Inn at the Highland at 2601 Zuni St. For more information, please call the Connection Center at 303-295-3366.

In addition, several shelters are available 24/7, such as the Aspen shelter at 4040 Quebec St., and at 2601 W. 7th Ave. and 375 S. Zuni St.

More information about Denver shelters can be found online or by texting INDOORS to 67283.
