In a recent interview with TVLine, co-creator Derek Haas shared his disappointment over the cancellation of the CBS crime drama “FBI: International.” Haas expressed his love for Jesse Soffer’s character, Wes, and praised the dynamic addition of the cast in Season 4.
Despite his sadness over the cancellation, Haas admitted that he had no insight into the reasons behind the decision. He expressed his trust in CBS executives Amy Reisenbach and Eric Kim, as well as his friends at Wolf Entertainment, suggesting that the cancellation was likely due to factors beyond the show’s quality.
CBS recently announced the cancellation of both spinoffs of the original “FBI” series, with “FBI: International” ending after its fourth season and “FBI: Most Wanted” concluding after its sixth season. “International,” which premiered in 2021, featured a talented cast including Luke Kleintank, Heida Reed, Carter Redwood, Vinessa Vidotto, and Christiane Paul. Soffer took over as the series lead from Kleintank in Season 3.
Despite the cancellations, fans can look forward to a new installment in the “FBI” franchise titled “FBI: CIA.” Set in New York City, the series follows a dedicated FBI agent and a street-smart CIA agent working together on a clandestine taskforce to combat domestic terrorism. The show is currently in development with Dick Wolf serving as writer and executive producer, along with David Hudgins, Nicole Perlman, David Chasteen, and Peter Jankowski.
