Exploring a Different Era of Wisteria Lane with Marc Cherry
“Desperate Housewives” creator Marc Cherry recently shared his openness to delving into a new era of Wisteria Lane in a potential prequel to the beloved ABC series. In an interview with People magazine, Cherry discussed his idea for revisiting the iconic street with a different twist.
Cherry expressed his fondness for the setting of Wisteria Lane, stating, “The character I miss writing the most is actually Wisteria Lane. That was the most fun playground anyone in the history of television has ever had, because we owned the whole street.” He mused about the possibility of exploring the neighborhood in an earlier decade, such as 1966, to bring a fresh perspective to the familiar setting.
With fans clamoring for a “Desperate Housewives” reboot, Cherry revealed that he has entertained the idea and even has a couple of concepts in mind. However, he emphasized the importance of having a compelling reason to revisit the series, stating, “If you do a reboot, you have to have a really good artistic reason to do it.”
“Desperate Housewives” originally aired from 2004 to 2012 and followed the lives of four women who unravel dark secrets in their seemingly perfect suburban neighborhood. The series, starring Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, and Eva Longoria, garnered critical acclaim and multiple awards during its run.
