Marines Prepared to Deploy Amid Escalating Protests in Los Angeles
In a striking turn of events, 500 active duty Marines are on standby to deploy to downtown Los Angeles as protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) escalate, culminating in the alarming sight of Waymo self-driving cars being set ablaze. The chaos, marked by acts of vandalism, has raised significant concerns about public safety and the rule of law.

In a bizarre display of defiance, a protestor brandishing a Mexican flag was spotted dancing atop a burning vehicle. This spectacle not only raises eyebrows but also questions the motivations driving such extreme actions.

According to a statement from NORTHCOM, the Marines from 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, stationed at Twentynine Palms, California, are in a “prepared to deploy” status, responding to the rising violence against law enforcement.
NORTHCOM elaborated in a statement:
By direction of the Secretary of Defense and in coordination with U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), approximately 2,000 California Army National Guard soldiers have been placed under federal command and control in a Title 10 status to support the protection of federal personnel and federal property in the greater Los Angeles area.
As USNORTHCOM’s land component command, U.S. Army North has established Task Force 51, led by a two-star general, to oversee the Title 10 forces. Currently, around 300 members of the California Army National Guard’s 79th Infantry Brigade Combat Team are deployed in various locations across the greater Los Angeles area, including Los Angeles, Paramount, and Compton.
In addition, approximately 500 Marines from 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines at Twentynine Palms are on standby to assist in the Department of Defense’s efforts to safeguard federal property and personnel.
USNORTHCOM will provide further updates as units are mobilized.
In a show of decisive action, President Trump has instructed federal agencies to “take all necessary measures” to reclaim Los Angeles from what he terms an “illegal alien invasion.”
The President has already authorized the deployment of 2,000 California National Guard soldiers and Defense Secretary Hegseth has indicated plans to mobilize Marines from Camp Pendleton in north San Diego County.
“A once-great American city, Los Angeles, has been invaded and occupied by illegal aliens and criminals. Now violent, insurrectionist mobs are swarming and attacking our Federal Agents to hinder our deportation operations. But these lawless riots only strengthen our resolve. I am directing Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and Attorney General Pam Bondi, alongside all relevant Departments and Agencies, to take all necessary action to liberate Los Angeles from this Migrant Invasion and quell these riots. Order will be restored, the illegals will be expelled, and Los Angeles will be freed,” Trump stated on Truth Social.
