‘Dexter’ Prequel Series Sets Premiere Date, Drops First Teaser

The highly anticipated prequel series, “Dexter: Original Sin,” has finally announced its premiere date on Paramount+ in partnership with Showtime. The series is set to debut on streaming and on-demand on December 13th for Paramount+ and Showtime subscribers, followed by its linear debut on December 15th. International audiences can also look forward to the series rolling out on Paramount+ on December 13th.

To build anticipation for the series, Paramount has released the first teaser, featuring the iconic voice of Michael C. Hall, who famously portrayed Dexter in the original series. In the teaser, Hall’s voiceover declares, “I’m a killer, but I wasn’t born this way. I was made.”

“Dexter: Original Sin” consists of 10 thrilling episodes that take viewers back to Miami in 1991. The series follows a young Dexter, portrayed by Patrick Gibson, as he navigates the transition from student to avenging serial killer. Guided by his father, Harry (played by Christian Slater), Dexter adopts a Code to help him identify and eliminate individuals who he believes deserve to be removed from society without attracting law enforcement attention. The series promises to delve into Dexter’s inner darkness as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.

The talented cast of “Dexter: Original Sin” includes Patrick Dempsey, Molly Brown, James Martinez, Christina Milian, Alex Shimizu, Reno Wilson, and special guest star Sarah Michelle Gellar. Michael C. Hall will lend his voice to Dexter’s inner monologue throughout the show, adding an extra layer of depth to the character.

Clyde Phillips, the original showrunner and executive producer of “Dexter,” returns to helm “Original Sin” in the same capacity. Hall also serves as an executive producer alongside Scott Reynolds, Mary Leah Sutton, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns. The series will be directed and executive produced by Michael Lehmann, known for his work on “Heathers.” Production is a collaborative effort between Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios, with Gary Levine and Urooj Sharif overseeing for Showtime Studios.

The distribution of the series outside of Paramount+ markets will be handled by Paramount Global Content Distribution. With its compelling storyline, talented cast, and experienced production team, “Dexter: Original Sin” is poised to captivate audiences and reignite the intrigue that made the original series a fan favorite.
