DIA flights on ground stop for high winds, hundreds delayed

DIA flights on ground stop for high winds, hundreds delayed

Denver International Airport is currently experiencing a ground stop for all flights until at least 6:15 p.m. due to high winds, as per the Federal Aviation Administration.

Prior to the issuance of the ground stop at 4 p.m., hundreds of flights were already delayed because of the windy conditions, according to federal officials.

Due to the ground delay for wind, flights are currently operating an average of 49 minutes behind schedule, with the delay expected to continue until 9 p.m.

As of 4:20 p.m., there have been 516 flight delays and six canceled flights at Denver airport, according to flight tracking website FlightAware.

Southwest Airlines reported the highest number of delays at 208, followed by United Airlines with 151 delays.
