It’s official: the reigning prank war champion is back at it! Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio has left fans astonished with a new video that seems to showcase him sporting a buzzcut, leading many to speculate if he has parted ways with his trademark hairstyle by shaving his head.

“I Shaved My Head ✂️💈🪒,” Pauly D, 45, captioned the trending video clip shared on Saturday, October 11. The footage shows him beginning with his sideburns using an electric shaver before also trimming his beard.

“Feels great already. Let’s get it all off. Fresh start, man!” he adds at the end of the Facebook video.

The MTV star, famous for his iconic gravity-defying hairstyle, sent shockwaves across social media, rapidly amassing 12 million views and still counting.

However, some keen-eyed fans quickly realized that the drastic change might not be as real as it appears—it’s likely an AI-generated alteration. One viewer commented, “It’s AI people. You can’t just cut bulletproof hair.” Another remarked, “AI or not… he looks great bald.”

“AI does wonders, yeeeaaaaahhhhh buddy!” remarked a third, while a fourth referenced a classic quote from Pauly D in season 2 of Jersey Shore: “This hair ain’t movin’, my dude. 150 miles on the highway on a street bike, it doesn’t move. What makes you think it’s gonna move in a gelato shop?”

As fans grapple with the concept of a Pauly D without his beloved hairstyle, many reminisced about his real-life hair transformation in 2020, when he debuted platinum blonde locks while maintaining dark facial hair.

“Just trying to see if [it’s] true that blondes have more fun…” he captioned a photo of himself grinning on his motorcycle at the time. The reality star also shared a photo showing his lighter hair color from within his Rolls Royce, declaring, “Activate Super Saiyan DJ Mode…”

Following the platinum transformation, his co-star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino gave his thumbs up, commenting, “Oh damn,” alongside a fire emoji. “We’ve got a Situation.”

When a critic expressed their disapproval with a simple “don’t like it,” Pauly waved off the criticism effortlessly, responding, “Don’t care.”

Before this latest haircut endeavor, Pauly spoke with Us Weekly exclusively about his iconic hairstyle as he launched two new limited-edition products: göt2b Glued Styling Spiking Glue and Blasting Freeze Spray by DJ Pauly D.

“To me, my hair is everything, so I style it with gel most of the time,” the brand ambassador told Us. “The bottles even feature my face. The glue is incredibly strong and keeps my blowout in place, while I use the spray to ensure it lasts all day long.”

Pauly mentioned that his hairstyle has been an integral part of his signature look long before he graced reality television in 2009.

“I attended a Catholic school, so we all wore the same uniforms. The only thing that distinguished us was our hairstyles,” he explained, noting it’s a practice he’s carried into adulthood.

“I make it a point to style my hair every day because it allows me to express myself and gives me a sense of achievement,” Pauly added.

While he occasionally goes without gel, he mentioned, “I enjoy it too much; it’s part of who I am and it’s my signature look.” Pauly expressed, “It would be like Mickey Mouse folding down his ears!”
