Judge Scolds Diddy’s Family Lawyer for Comments on Prosecution Team
The judge presiding over Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex trafficking trial reprimanded a member of his family’s legal team, Mark Geragos, on Tuesday for making inappropriate comments about the all-women team of prosecutors in the case.
During a private meeting, Judge Arun Subramanian criticized Geragos for referring to the prosecution team as “a six-pack of white women” on a podcast he co-hosts with TMZ founder Harvey Levin.
Subramanian stated, “This is ridiculous. I think referring to the prosecution in this case as a six-pack of white women is outrageous. This would not be tolerated in any court from any lawyer anywhere across the nation.”
Geragos defended his comments by explaining that Combs believes he is being “targeted” because he is black. However, Combs’ defense team has agreed not to argue that he was targeted due to his race during the trial.
The prosecutors urged the judge to remind Geragos and Combs’ defense team of their obligations not to make public statements that could influence the jury pool.
Mark Geragos, a well-known celebrity lawyer who has represented clients like Michael Jackson and Hunter Biden, is not officially listed as a lawyer on Combs’ case but revealed that he is working for Combs’ mother in a separate matter.
The judge ended the meeting on a lighter note, joking that he would be listening to Geragos’ podcast to ensure no further inappropriate comments were made.
Sean “Diddy” Combs, who faces serious charges including racketeering and sex trafficking, could potentially receive a life sentence if convicted. Jury selection for the trial is ongoing.
Mark Geragos was unavailable for comment following the incident.
