DirecTV has recently launched a new skinny bundle of sports channels called DirecTV MySports. This package is specifically targeted at sports fans who want to watch live sports without having to pay for a broad TV package. Initially available in 24 metro areas including major cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, and the San Francisco Bay Area, DirecTV MySports offers a total of 40 sports and broadcast channels.
The regular price for the MySports package is $69.99 per month, but customers who sign up online before February 28, 2025, can avail of a promotional price of $49.99 per month for the first three months. Additionally, DirecTV is offering a free five-day trial of the MySports package to allow users to experience the service before committing to a subscription.
Compared to DirecTV’s Entertainment and Sports Pack, which is priced at $101.98 per month, MySports offers a more affordable option for sports enthusiasts. The launch of MySports comes shortly after the cancellation of Venu Sports, a joint venture between Disney, Fox Corp., and Warner Bros. Discovery that aimed to provide a sports-centric streaming bundle for $42.99 per month.
DirecTV has secured distribution rights for the MySports channels through agreements with major media companies such as Disney, Fox Corp., Warner Bros. Discovery, and NBCUniversal. The package includes networks from the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, and major collegiate conferences. While Paramount Global’s CBS is currently not included in the package, DirecTV is in talks to add the broadcaster in the future.
In addition to the sports package, DirecTV has announced plans to introduce genre-based tiers in 2025, including packages focused on kids and family programming and entertainment networks. These genre-based options are part of DirecTV’s strategy to offer consumers more choice, flexibility, and control over their TV content at a competitive price point.
National sports channels available through DirecTV MySports include ACC Network, Big Ten Network, ESPN, Fox Sports, Golf Channel, MLB Network, NBA TV, NFL Network, NHL Network, SEC Network, TBS, TNT, and USA Network. Broadcast channels from local ABC, Fox, and NBC stations are also included, with additional networks and ESPN+ expected to be added in the near future at no extra cost.
Users can stream DirecTV MySports through the DirecTV mobile app and on platforms like Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV. The service also offers game-time notifications and an unlimited cloud-based DVR for recording live sports events. Additionally, MySports customers will have access to the MyFree DirecTV ad-supported sports channels, which feature a variety of sports content for added entertainment value.
