Disney+ and Tving Partner to Offer Bundled Subscription Packages in South Korea
Disney+ has announced a groundbreaking partnership with CJ ENM’s Korean streaming platform Tving, introducing bundled subscription packages that combine global and local content at discounted rates. This collaboration marks the first of its kind between an international and local streaming service in South Korea.
The new bundled plans offer Korean consumers two options to choose from, both launching immediately. The first package includes Disney+, Tving, and local streamer Wavve, priced at KRW21,500 ($14.60) per month, providing up to 37% savings compared to separate subscriptions. The second bundle offers Disney+ and Tving at KRW18,000 ($12.30) per month, saving consumers 23% against the combined cost of Disney+ Standard and Tving Standard.
These bundled plans grant users access to Disney’s vast library of franchise content from Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, National Geographic, and Hulu, in addition to Disney+ Korean originals and popular Korean dramas, variety programming, and entertainment from Tving, Wavve, and CJ ENM.
Following a successful content partnership in Japan, Disney+ Japan has begun rolling out up to 60 Korean titles, including hits such as “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (Goblin)” and “Reply 1988” from CJ ENM. Tving’s original series “Dear X” premiered exclusively on Disney+ Japan, marking the platform’s entry into the Japanese market.
Tony Zameczkowski, Senior VP and General Manager of Direct-to-Consumer for Asia Pacific at Walt Disney Company, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “By partnering with Tving and Wavve, we’re expanding our reach, enriching the content ecosystem, and offering greater value to consumers. We’re also proud to support the global journey of Korean content and hope this sets a new standard for cross-border collaboration in the streaming industry.”
Kim Soyoun, Managing Director of Walt Disney Company Korea, added, “This collaboration not only enhances the value we offer to Korean consumers but also strengthens our role as a bridge between local creativity and global audiences.”
Tving CEO Julie Choi also shared her enthusiasm, saying, “We look forward to seeing more Korean stories reach new audiences around the world and be loved by them through our collaboration with Disney+ Japan.”
The partnership comes as Disney+ expands its Korean content slate with originals like “Moving,” “Low Life,” and “Tempest,” as well as new formats such as the mid-form variety series “Weekly Entertainment Arcade.” The platform aims to be a dual destination for both Disney’s extensive catalog of global entertainment and the growing lineup of Korean productions.
With this innovative partnership, Disney+ and Tving are setting a new standard for cross-border collaboration in the streaming industry, offering consumers in South Korea a unique and value-packed streaming experience.
