Despite the backlash and scrutiny from lawmakers, OSHA has not responded to requests for comment regarding the removal of these documents. However, emails obtained by the website Popular Information revealed that agency officials instructed staff to dispose of any materials containing language related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.

The removal of these documents has raised concerns among House Democrats, who have written a letter to the acting Secretary of Labor expressing their worries about the implementation of the executive orders without considering the context in which the terms are used. Some of the removed guidance has since been reposted on OSHA’s website after Democrats raised concerns, but others, such as those related to first responders and workplace violence in healthcare settings, remain offline.
