Activist David Hogg Praises Rep. Jasmine Crockett as a Leader for the Democratic Party
Activist David Hogg commended far-left Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) on Friday, describing her as “the type of leader” that the Democratic Party needs. Hogg, the embattled vice chairman of the Democratic National Committee, expressed his admiration for the outspoken Dallas congresswoman during an interview on “The Breakfast Club” radio show.
“I love her. She is amazing,” Hogg said of Crockett. “I think that people want to see somebody who fights and calls out the bulls–t ultimately. I think that’s what Jasmine does.”
Crockett, known for her history of making wild statements and drawing headlines, embodies the “authenticity” that Democrats are seeking in a leader, according to Hogg.
“I think Jasmine is, frankly, the type of leader that we’re really looking to support in some senses, right?” he added. “Somebody who is out there that frankly doesn’t give a damn what the other side — at least the elected Republicans in Congress — say.”
Crockett, 44, has been a vocal critic of President Trump, referring to him as a “dictator” and an “enemy to the United States.” She has also made controversial remarks about deported individuals and Trump supporters.
Hogg’s endorsement of Crockett comes at a time when confidence in Democratic congressional leadership has reached a record low. Hogg, who was elected as vice chair of the DNC in February, has faced criticism for his plans to challenge long-serving Democratic House lawmakers in primaries.
Despite facing backlash, Hogg remains committed to his efforts to bring change within the Democratic Party. The full DNC will vote in June on whether to remove Hogg from his position and hold a new election.
David Hogg gained national attention as a survivor of the Parkland school shooting in 2018 and has since become a prominent advocate for gun control.
