The Los Angeles Dodgers have made a generous donation of $1 million to support families affected by recent immigration raids in Southern California. In addition to this financial aid, the Dodgers have expressed their commitment to forming partnerships with organizations like the California Community Foundation and the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor to continue providing assistance to immigrant families in need.

Dodgers president Stan Kasten emphasized the team’s dedication to supporting the communities of Greater Los Angeles during these challenging times. The team’s announcement, made in a carefully worded news release, avoided using inflammatory political terms and focused on providing aid to families impacted by recent events in the region.

Manager Dave Roberts commended the Dodgers for their initiative, stating that it is the right thing to do. The team’s actions come after a recent incident where federal agents were asked to leave the stadium grounds, highlighting the team’s stance on the issue.

While the situation has not been extensively discussed in the clubhouse, some Dodgers players, including Kiké Hernández, have spoken out against the raids on social media. The team’s lead Spanish-language broadcaster, Jaime Jarrín, also criticized the federal actions.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass praised the Dodgers for their leadership in supporting the immigrant community. Fans and lawmakers have called on the Dodgers to take a stand against the raids, given their significant Latino fan base and influence in the region.

U.S. Rep. Jimmy Gomez urged the Dodgers to speak up on the issue, emphasizing that silence is not an option. With a large percentage of residents in Los Angeles being immigrants and a substantial Latino fan base, Gomez stressed the importance of taking a stand in support of the community.
