Dolly Parton’s Flattered by Sheep Clone Named After Her

Dolly Parton recently revealed why she felt “flattered” to have a sheep clone named after her famous cleavage nearly 30 years ago. The country music legend shared her thoughts on the groundbreaking scientific feat during an interview with the Guardian.

The sheep clone, named “Dolly,” was created by researchers at Scotland’s Roslin Institute in 1996. Using mammary gland tissue, they successfully cloned the first mammal from an adult somatic cell. Parton expressed her honor at having the sheep named after her distinctive feature, joking about the connection to her bosom.

Reflecting on the unique tribute, Parton remarked, “I was flattered. You know, when the scientists cloned Dolly the sheep, they used the mammary glands. That’s what they call them … glands … the boobs.” She shared how the sheep’s name was a playful nod to her iconic image and sense of humor.

Dolly the sheep, born on July 5, 1996, went on to produce six offspring before passing away on February 14, 2003. Parton expressed her sadness at the sheep’s death but clarified that she has no interest in being cloned herself. She humorously mentioned the abundance of Dolly impersonators and drag queens, joking that she could send them to run errands on her behalf.

Despite the numerous tributes to her career, Parton emphasized that she is not ready to retire just yet. She explained, “I always say I’ve dreamed myself into a corner. I’ve got to keep all those dreams alive. Every dream spins off into something else.” Parton also debunked rumors about her retirement from touring, clarifying that she still performs but prefers shorter trips to be with her husband, Carl Dean.

In a recent revelation about her marriage, Parton shared insights into her low-key life with her husband. She described herself as a homebody who enjoys simple pleasures like cooking, reading, and spending time with Dean. Despite her glamorous image, Parton values the quiet moments at home and cherishes the time she spends traveling with her husband in their RV.

Parton’s candid remarks shed light on her enduring career, her playful attitude towards fame, and her deep bond with her husband. As she continues to inspire fans with her music and personality, Dolly Parton remains a beloved icon in the entertainment industry.
