Dolly Parton is gearing up for a Las Vegas residency, but behind the scenes, she is still coping with the loss of her beloved husband, Carl Dean. According to insiders, Parton’s friends have been encouraging her to seek help from a “grief specialist,” but the country music icon is hesitant to do so. She believes that as a Southern woman, she should put on a brave face and keep smiling through her pain.
In a statement following Dean’s passing, Parton expressed her deep love for him, saying, “Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy.” Since then, she has been open about the challenges of grieving and adjusting to life without her husband.
During an appearance on the Today show, Parton admitted that becoming a widow has been a “big adjustment.” She shared, “I’ve loved him since I was 18 years old, and it’s a big adjustment just trying to change patterns and habits.” Despite her grief, Parton is pushing forward with her Las Vegas shows, scheduled for December 4, 6, 7, 10, 12, and 13. These dates coincide with the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.
This upcoming residency marks Parton’s return to Sin City after last headlining a run at The Mirage in 1993. Her earlier performances in Las Vegas at the Riviera in the 1980s were also well-received. Fans can expect a mix of classic hits and new material from the legendary singer-songwriter during her highly anticipated shows.
