Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are currently embroiled in a heated debate over the rules for the upcoming presidential debate on ABC next month. The debate, set to take place in Philadelphia on September 10th, has become a point of contention between the two political heavyweights.

Vice President Harris, 59, is pushing for both her and Trump’s microphones to remain on throughout the entirety of the debate. However, Trump, who had previously agreed to have his microphone muted during debates with President Joe Biden, is now pushing back against this request.

Brian Fallon, the senior adviser for communications for the Harris campaign, has made it clear that they believe both candidates’ microphones should be live throughout the entire broadcast. This request has put the debate organizers at ABC in a difficult position, as they try to navigate the demands of both candidates.

One of the main concerns from Trump’s team is the fear of a hot microphone incident that could land the former president in serious trouble. With Trump known for his off-the-cuff remarks and controversial statements, the idea of leaving his microphone on for the duration of the debate is a risky move.

As the debate date draws closer, it remains to be seen how this dispute over microphone rules will be resolved. Both Trump and Harris are determined to have their voices heard, but the logistics of how that will happen are still up in the air. The American public will be watching closely as these two political titans clash on the debate stage.
