Don Lemon, a former CNN host turned independent journalist, strongly criticized President Donald Trump for his recent xenophobic remarks against Somali immigrants. Lemon described Trump’s comments as racist, vulgar, and beneath the dignity of the White House. He also labeled Trump as a “gross, bigoted, racist piece of shit.”

During a discussion with White House press veteran Tommy Christopher, Lemon pointed out the lack of journalistic resistance against the president’s offensive statements. He acknowledged the difficulty journalists face in pushing back against Trump’s rhetoric without jeopardizing their job security.

Trump’s anti-immigrant attacks, particularly targeting Somali immigrants, have drawn widespread condemnation. Despite the suspect in a recent shooting incident being from Afghanistan, Trump has continued to make derogatory remarks about Somali refugees. His comments have sparked further controversy and fueled offensive rhetoric against immigrants.

Lemon emphasized the importance of holding the president accountable for his words, calling Trump’s statements “disqualifying to be a president of the United States.” He also criticized mainstream media for not being harsh enough in their coverage of Trump’s remarks.

Overall, Lemon’s strong stance against Trump’s xenophobic comments highlights the need for journalists to speak out against hate speech and discriminatory behavior, even in the face of potential backlash.
