Doug Emhoff’s Efforts to Get Taylor Swift to Support Kamala Harris
In a new book, it is revealed that Doug Emhoff tried to get Taylor Swift to support his wife, Kamala Harris, during her 2024 presidential campaign, but was unsuccessful.
There were rumors that Taylor Swift would perform or make an appearance at Harris’ final rally in Philadelphia, near Swift’s hometown, but she had already declined Emhoff’s efforts.
Swift had endorsed Harris after a debate with Trump but did not join the campaign trail for the Democratic nominee.
Emhoff, who has ties to the entertainment industry, reached out to Swift’s attorney to convey the campaign’s appreciation for any support the pop star could provide, but Swift decided to only endorse Harris.
Despite Emhoff’s efforts, Swift did not participate in the campaign events, and other celebrities like Fat Joe, Lady Gaga, and Oprah Winfrey took the stage at the rally instead.
The Harris campaign organized several star-studded concerts with artists like Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera, and Beyonce to attract voters, but it reportedly cost millions of dollars with questionable impact on voter turnout.
The campaign spent around $20 million on election eve concerts in swing states that ultimately went for President Trump.
Some campaign staff raised concerns about the cost and effectiveness of the rallies, questioning their impact on voter persuasion and turnout.
