Phil Robertson, the revered patriarch of the Duck Dynasty clan, has passed away at the age of 79 after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. The announcement came from his daughter-in-law, Korie Robertson, via a heartfelt message on Facebook.
“Today we celebrate the life of our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, who is now in the presence of the Lord,” Korie shared with her followers. “He often reminded us of the words of Paul: ‘You do not grieve like those who have no hope.’ We believe in the promise of resurrection through Jesus, and we take comfort in the knowledge that God will welcome home those who have fallen asleep in Him.”
Korie expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and prayers from those whose lives were touched by Phil’s unwavering faith and commitment to spreading the Good News of Jesus. “We are thankful for his earthly journey and will carry on his legacy of loving God and others until we are reunited,” she continued, acknowledging the profound impact Phil had on many.
“We understand that countless individuals loved him and were inspired by his life. While we will hold a private service for now, we plan to announce details soon regarding a public celebration of his remarkable life,” Korie added.
Notably, Phil Robertson was also a vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump. In a rally back in 2019, he succinctly summarized his values: “If you’re pro-God and pro-America and pro-gun and pro-duck hunting, that’s all I want.” A sentiment that could easily resonate in certain circles, though it does raise questions about the intersection of faith and politics.
