Rock legend Peter Wolf has recently revealed the tumultuous details of his relationship with Hollywood icon Faye Dunaway. In his new memoir, “Waiting on the Moon,” Wolf disclosed a shocking affair between Dunaway and her “Chinatown” co-star Jack Nicholson while they were still together.
The revelation came as a turning point in their relationship, with Wolf claiming that Dunaway, now 84, had spent the night with Nicholson at his home while he was downstairs, unaware of what was happening. Despite Dunaway’s denial of any off-screen chemistry with Nicholson, Wolf painted a different picture of a night filled with betrayal and heartbreak.
Wolf, the 79-year-old lead singer of The J. Geils Band, delved into their relationship, which was already three years deep when Dunaway landed a role opposite Nicholson in Roman Polanski’s thriller. As Wolf was deeply entrenched in the music scene, mingling with legends like Bob Dylan and Andy Warhol, his relationship with Dunaway took a dramatic turn with her alleged affair.
The betrayal didn’t end there. Despite Dunaway and Wolf tying the knot in 1974, their marriage was far from smooth sailing. Another act of infidelity shattered Wolf’s trust, this time with British celebrity photographer Terry O’Neill, leading to their marriage’s eventual demise in 1979.
The final blow came when Wolf unexpectedly found Dunaway with O’Neill, locked out of their apartment. Enraged by what he overheard, Wolf smashed O’Neill’s equipment before fleeing as police arrived. Their marriage ended soon after, with Dunaway marrying O’Neill in 1983.
Despite their tumultuous past, Dunaway and Wolf managed to rekindle a friendship, but Wolf ultimately refused her proposal of a second chance. The rollercoaster romance between the rock legend and Hollywood icon ended in heartbreak and betrayal, leaving behind a story of love, loss, and forgiveness.
