Dustin Nguyen, known for his role in “21 Jump Street,” has joined the cast of the upcoming Peacock and A24 series, “Superfakes.” Created by Alice Ju, writer of “Beef,” and starring Lucy Liu, the show follows a small-time Chinatown luxury counterfeit dealer who delves into a dangerous black-market underworld to provide a better life for her family in the suburbs. Ken Leung, from “Industry,” plays her husband in the series.
Nguyen will play Henry, a shady, old-school gangster with a complex personality. He is described as commanding yet insecure, ruthless yet loyal, paranoid yet superstitious. Despite projecting confidence, he is a man adrift, surviving in the criminal underworld through a mix of luck and skill.
“Superfakes,” which received a series order from Peacock in January 2025, also features Bohan Phoenix, Michelle Jones Lee, and Keith Leung in the cast. The show is executive produced by Josh Safdie, Benny Safdie, Howard Klein, Olivia Gerke, Ronald Bronstein, Eli Bush, and Lucy Liu. Alice Ju, an Emmy-winner known for her work on “Beef” and “Poker Face,” serves as the creator of the series. Production is handled by A24 and UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.
Nguyen has been making a comeback in the U.S. entertainment industry with roles in projects like “Dope Thief,” “Blade of the 47 Ronin,” and “The Accidental Getaway Driver.” He also appeared in Justin Lin’s “Warrior” series and the sequel to “47 Ronin.” Prior to his recent success, Nguyen enjoyed a successful career as a filmmaker and actor in Vietnam.
Represented by Buchwald and JDS, Nguyen continues to showcase his talent and versatility in various film and television projects. With his addition to the cast of “Superfakes,” fans can look forward to seeing him bring Henry to life on screen.
