Dylan Efron is making Dancing With the Stars season 34 a family-centric experience.
Just before Dedication Night, Efron, 33, posted a heartwarming update about his rehearsals with his dance partner Daniella Karagach and his adorable 5-year-old sister, Olivia.
“Please join me in welcoming the latest member of Team DaDy, my little sister Olivia,” Efron captioned a post on Instagram on Sunday, October 12. “She’s quickly become the second-best dancer on the team and without a doubt the cutest. Team DaDy-O. #DWTS.”
The photos shared by Efron show Olivia enjoying her time on the dance floor, including a sweet moment where she sits on his lap in ballroom shoes. In another shot, Olivia kisses Efron on the cheek, while he holds her next to Karagach, 32.
“OMG!!! Those little ballroom shoes are everything 🥹😭✨💘,” professional dancer Jenna Johnson commented, while fellow contestant Danielle Fishel exclaimed, “STAWP!!! I love her so much.”
Dylan and Karagach are scheduled to perform in the ballroom on Tuesday, October 12, dancing a contemporary piece to “Rewrite the Stars,” performed by his brother Zac Efron and Zendaya from The Greatest Showman — a tribute dedicated to Olivia.
In anticipation of the performance, Dylan hinted at it following his Quickstep to the theme of Cars titled “Life is a Highway” during the show’s Disney Night.
“Everyone thought you would be doing High School Musical tonight,” cohost Julianne Hough remarked, to which Dylan replied, “I couldn’t — I’ve got something special planned for next week, assuming I’m still here.”
Following a September taping of DWTS, Dylan attributed his solid performance and scores to Olivia’s support from the audience (Dylan and Karagach scored a combined 23 out of 30 from judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli during the show’s TikTok night).
“That’s the best feeling. She boosts my confidence every time I see her out there,” he expressed to Us Weekly in an exclusive interview, mentioning that Olivia even shared some dance moves with him “right before the show.” He humorously added, “[She was] my first dance lesson.”
When it was announced that Dylan would be participating in this season of DWTS, he revealed to Us that his entire family was on board with his decision. (Their father David Efron has a daughter, Olivia, and a son, Henry, with his second wife, Jenny.)
“My dad is really excited,” Dylan noted in September. “He has young kids, four and five. They’re all thrilled. My mom was just shocked, like, ‘Where did this come from?’ My brother has been supportive too.”
Dylan shared that Zac attended a DWTS live taping “a long time ago” and thoroughly enjoyed it. “He said, ‘The best part is being there for the live shows.’ He noted how amazing the energy is,” Dylan reminisced.
As for the likelihood of his family making an appearance to support him in the ballroom, Dylan teased, “We’ll see.” He also dismissed the speculation of including a High School Musical reference in their routines, with Karagach adding, “We’ll be doing our own thing.”
Dancing With the Stars broadcasts on ABC and Disney+ every Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET.
