Samsung has really outdone themselves with their 2025 TV and soundbar lineup. After getting a sneak peek at CES 2025, these new models are finally making their way into homes and stores. From the glare-fighting QLEDs to the upgraded OLED and the Quantum Dot-enhanced Frame, Samsung has really stepped up their game this year. We had the opportunity to spend time with all of these new models and here’s what we discovered.

The Testing Process2025 Samsung Soundbars

The Testing Process

Our testing process involved several hours of cycling through the various TVs paired with their respective soundbars. We tested the TVs by streaming content through an Apple TV 4K and the built-in streaming apps, as well as watching 4K and standard Blu-Ray content through a dedicated player. Titles like The Fifth Element, Blade Runner 2049, Alien, Dune 2, and others were used as reference points.

When it came to the soundbars, we focused on analyzing movie soundtracks and dialogue, as well as listening to Spatial Audio and stereo tracks on Apple Music via an AudioQuest Carbon 48 HDMI cable connected to an Apple TV 4K.

Samsung S95F OLED TV

The Samsung S95D OLED TV was a standout last year, and the S95F continues that success by enhancing the features that made it exceptional. The anti-glare coating has been updated to further improve black levels in environments with varying lighting conditions. In our tests, the coating effectively minimized glare from overhead and direct light sources, maintaining visible dark scenes with good contrast even in well-lit settings.

Additionally, Samsung has boosted the S95F’s brightness with improved Quantum Dot performance, boasting a peak brightness of 2,000 nits—a 22% increase over last year’s model. The TV also features a 165Hz refresh rate for gaming, demonstrating its versatility in different viewing scenarios. The AI enhancements, powered by the NQ4 AI Gen3 Processor, offer advanced features like Click to Search and Live Translate, making content customization a seamless experience.

Overall, the S95F stands out as a top-tier OLED TV with enhanced brightness, customization options, and cutting-edge processing technology. While it comes at a premium price, the inclusion of features like the One Connect Box for simplified connectivity justifies the investment for those seeking the latest in OLED technology.

Available sizes: 42″, 48″, 55″, 65″, 77″, 83″

Samsung QN90F Neo QLED TV

 Samsung QN90F TV review

Stan Horaczek

Samsung has not only incorporated anti-glare technology into their Neo QLED flagship, the QN90F, but has also introduced the NQ4 AI Gen3 Processor for personalized viewing experiences. Despite not having access to natural light sources during our testing, the glare reduction capabilities of this TV were impressive, effectively handling overhead and pinpoint light sources.

Beneath its glossy screen, Samsung has worked on increasing the TV’s brightness without compromising on issues like blooming, ensuring a high-quality viewing experience for users.

It offers exceptional picture quality with vivid colors, deep contrast, and impressive brightness. The Quantum Matrix Mini LED backlight system ensures that black areas render perfectly black, creating a stunning visual experience. The sudden transitions from dark to bright scenes can be almost jarring, as the peak brightness of the TV really shines through.

One standout feature of this TV is its native 120Hz refresh rate, which can be pushed up to 165Hz with VRR enabled. While our testing focused more on watching content than gaming, Samsung’s strong gaming performance is evident in this model. With low lag, variable bit rates, and ample HDR support, this TV is well-equipped for fast-paced gaming action.

A new addition to this model is access to the Samsung Art Store subscription service, previously exclusive to the Frame series. However, Samsung opted to integrate the ports directly into the back of the panel rather than using the One Connect box found on their OLED models. While this design choice may not be ideal for wall mounting, the TV does feature a robust sound system with a 60W built-in sound system compatible with Dolby Atmos.

Despite the premium price tag typically associated with QLED models, this TV’s exceptional brightness and lack of blooming make it a compelling alternative for those who want OLED-like performance without the ideal setup for it. The TV comes in a range of sizes from 43″ to 115″, catering to various viewing preferences.

Moving on to the Samsung QN990F 8K QLED TV, this flagship model offers an increase in color, contrast, and brightness within a minimalist footprint. The addition of the Wireless One Connect Box allows for easy installation, with the ability to wirelessly beam content from attached devices to the display. The NQ8 AI Gen3 processor ensures excellent upscaling for all content fed into the TV, making everything look clean and clear.

Available in larger sizes ranging from 65″ to 98″, this TV includes anti-glare technology to combat reflections. The AI-powered Movie Mode enhances overall brightness and contrast, while the 90W 6.2.4-channel audio output delivers vivid sound quality. While the TV’s built-in audio can satisfy, it may not rival the immersive experience of a dedicated soundbar setup.

In conclusion, both the Quantum Matrix Mini LED backlight system and the Samsung QN990F 8K QLED TV offer top-tier performance and features that cater to discerning viewers looking for an exceptional viewing experience. Whether watching movies, gaming, or enjoying art content, these TVs deliver on all fronts.

Is it overkill for most uses? Probably, but you’ll likely have it for a decade, and those future-oriented features will come in handy eventually. The Samsung Frame Pro TV series has always been a hit with interior designers and individuals who value aesthetics in their living spaces. The anti-glare panel and excellent color reproduction make these “Art TVs” a fantastic addition to any room, especially when displaying art. However, watching content on them always fell short of a typical high-end TV due to a lack of brightness and perceived contrast. Now, Samsung has introduced the Frame Pro TV, featuring its Neo QLED technology to address these issues.

In art mode, the Frame Pro is still striking. It genuinely looks like a painting from 10 feet away, with access to over 3,000 works in the Samsung Art Store. The TV’s anti-glare technology is top-notch, with minimal glare surrounding the TV’s slim enclosure. The matte screen helps reduce contrast to some extent, but it’s not as much of a drawback as before.

The Frame Pro TV comes with high-end features, including the Wireless One Connect box, which can connect wirelessly within a 30-foot radius of the TV. This means the panel only requires a single power cord to hide during installation, appealing to Samsung’s design-conscious audience. The premium price tag of the Frame Pro TV means you really have to appreciate its style to justify the cost. But the sleek bezel and the screen’s new 144Hz refresh rate make it a visually stunning piece of technology.

2025 Samsung Soundbars

When it comes to Dolby Atmos in a box, the 2024 Samsung HW-990D was already a standout performer. The new HW-Q990F soundbar retains the same angular aesthetic as its predecessor, with a few subtle design updates. It’s still a substantial piece of equipment, both visually and sonically, now with added features to enhance the listening experience.

Soundbar performance can vary depending on the room’s acoustics, layout, and furnishings, so how it sounds in a controlled environment may differ from real-world usage. The HW-Q990F promises to deliver an immersive sound experience, especially when paired with wireless satellite speakers and a redesigned subwoofer. The subwoofer now features dual 8-inch opposing drivers for improved bass precision and reduced vibration, making it a more versatile and space-saving component.

Overall, the Samsung Frame Pro TV and the HW-Q990F soundbar offer premium features and performance for users who value both aesthetics and audio quality in their entertainment setup. While they may be overkill for some users, their long-term durability and advanced features make them a sound investment for those looking for a high-end viewing and listening experience.
