An East Harlem man, Saul Sanchez, has been charged with second-degree murder and assault for allegedly stabbing a teenage boy to death during a heated altercation in Manhattan. The incident took place near East 108th St. and Second Ave., where Sanchez, the victim Carlos Rivas, 17, and another man were involved in a dispute that escalated into violence.

According to police reports, Sanchez stabbed Rivas in the chest and lower abdomen, resulting in fatal injuries. Rivas was rushed to Harlem Hospital but tragically succumbed to his wounds. Another man, aged 22, was also injured in the altercation, sustaining a stab wound to his left arm. Sanchez himself suffered a cut to his forehead during the altercation. Both men were hospitalized and are currently in stable condition.

Sanchez, 62, was apprehended by authorities and now faces charges of second-degree murder, assault, and weapon possession. The arrest was made on Saturday following the incident. The violent confrontation has shocked the community and left many grappling with the senseless loss of a young life.

The images captured at the scene of the crime depict the chaotic aftermath of the stabbing, with emergency responders and law enforcement personnel on site. The corner of East 108th St. and Second Ave. in East Harlem serves as a grim reminder of the tragic events that unfolded on that fateful day.

As the investigation into the incident continues, residents of East Harlem are left mourning the loss of a promising young individual and grappling with the senseless violence that has plagued their community.
