The highly anticipated limited series adaptation of John Steinbeck’s “East of Eden” on Netflix is shaping up with an impressive cast. Tracy Letts, known for his work in “Saturday Night” and “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty,” along with Martha Plimpton from “The Regime” and “Mass,” Ciarán Hinds of “Belfast” and “Game of Thrones,” Joseph Zada, and Joe Anders have all joined the ensemble.
They will be joining previously announced stars Florence Pugh, Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist, and Hoon Lee in this epic family saga. Letts will take on the role of Cyrus Trask, while Plimpton portrays Faye, Hinds as Samuel Hamilton, Zada as Cal Trask, and Anders as Aron Trask.
The series delves into the multigenerational tale of the Trask family, with a focus on the complex and enigmatic antihero, Cathy Ames, played by Florence Pugh. The production is currently filming in New Zealand, with Zoe Kazan as the executive producer and co-showrunner. Jeb Stuart also serves as co-showrunner and executive producer, with Pugh taking on an additional role as an executive producer.
Garth Davis will direct the first four episodes and serve as an executive producer, while Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre will direct episodes five through seven. Antoine Douiahy and Zack Hayden are also on board as executive producers. The series is a collaboration between Fifth Season and Anonymous Content.
