eBay has officially declared its intent to acquire Tise, a vibrant social marketplace focusing on secondhand fashion and interior design items. The financial specifics of the acquisition remain undisclosed.
With this acquisition, eBay aims to tap into the community of Gen Z and millennial consumers that Tise has successfully cultivated. The platform boasts features that promote social interactions, allowing users to follow sellers, engage with listings through likes and comments, and receive tailored product recommendations. These features are expected to enhance eBay’s consumer-to-consumer (C2C) experience significantly.
It’s notable that Tise was the inaugural recipient of investment from eBay Ventures during 2022, marking a prior collaboration between the two entities.
Oliver Klinck, VP and GM of Global Markets Success and C2C at eBay, remarked, “This acquisition is a logical extension of our investment in Tise, enabling us to elevate Tise’s strategy and explore new areas of innovation. With Tise’s trend-forward inventory, dedicated community, and focus on social interactions, we will enrich eBay’s C2C offerings and create deeper connections with the next generation of consumers.”
The acquisition of Tise signals eBay’s commitment to modernizing its platform to resonate with younger shoppers, enhancing its social commerce tools and bolstering its position in sustainable retail.
The transaction is expected to conclude by the end of Q4 2025, contingent on standard regulatory approvals and conditions.
“At Tise, our core belief is that making resale enjoyable, straightforward, and inspirational is essential for a more sustainable world,” stated Eirik Frøyland Rime, CEO and co-founder of Tise. “eBay aligns with our vision perfectly, and with their backing, we will strengthen our community-driven approach, broadening participation in the social marketplace.”
Since its inception in 2014, Tise has successfully raised $45 million in funding, as noted by the market intelligence platform Tracxn.
