The quiet streets of Brentwood were shattered by a brutal crime that left Hollywood in shock. Nick Reiner was captured on surveillance footage walking near his parent’s home just hours before they were brutally murdered, sending shockwaves through the community.
The 32-year-old was seen casually strolling by a local gas station in blue jeans, a long-sleeve shirt, baseball cap, and backpack just before midnight on Saturday. The footage obtained by The Post placed Nick near the family home shortly before his parents, Rob and Michele, were killed according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney.
Reports indicated that the Reiner family had a heated argument at a holiday party hosted by Conan O’Brien on Saturday night. Sources confirmed that Nick also got into a confrontation with comedian Bill Hader at the same event, storming off in anger. It’s unclear when the family left the party that night.
The next day, Rob and Michele Reiner were found stabbed to death by their daughter, Romy, with their throats slashed. Romy reportedly warned officers that Nick was dangerous, according to TMZ. Detectives from the LAPD descended on the gas station near the Reiner’s home to review surveillance footage of Nick in the area, a day after the bodies were discovered.
Nick checked into The Pierside Santa Monica Hotel around 4 a.m. on Sunday morning, appearing “tweaked out” at check-in, but without any visible blood or cuts. However, hotel staff later found a shower full of blood and blood on the bed in his room.
He was eventually arrested by the LAPD Gang and Narcotics Unit around 9:15 p.m. on Sunday night, charged with two counts of murder for the slayings of his parents, Rob and Michele. The arrest was captured on dramatic footage showing officers swooping in to apprehend him near LA’s Exposition Park neighborhood.
The tragic events surrounding the Reiner family have left the community reeling, with many still trying to make sense of the senseless violence that claimed the lives of two beloved Hollywood figures.
