Evergreen’s El Rancho Colorado Seeks New Owner/Operator
Evergreen’s iconic El Rancho Colorado, a beloved roadside eatery along Interstate 70 that closed its doors last year, is now on the lookout for a new owner or operator.
QuickTrip recently acquired the land where El Rancho is located for $6.17 million with plans to start construction in 2026. However, they have agreed to allow the relocation of the El Rancho structure across the road if a new owner steps in.
The 77-year-old restaurant and events venue is currently available for sale, including nearly $1 million worth of brewing equipment, with an asking price of $2.65 million.
Time is of the essence, as a new owner/operator must be found in the next few months to prevent the potential demolition of the structure. JLL Senior Vice President Stephen Markey and Senior Sales/Broker Sarah Sparks are leading the marketing efforts for the sale on behalf of Observatory Holdings LLC.
Markey stated, “The new location offers stunning views of the Continental Divide and high visibility for I-70 travelers. El Rancho was originally built as a roadhouse for travelers, and we hope that legacy continues.”
Developers have designated a new lot for El Rancho in their development across the road, ready for relocation once a new owner/operator is secured.
Jack Buchanan, representing the developers, mentioned, “This move presents a unique opportunity to revitalize this business. The improved location and infrastructure will set El Rancho up for success in the future.”
Consultations with Mammoth Movers have confirmed that moving the historic building, including the old post office and main dining areas, is feasible. However, the move will only proceed once a new owner/operator is in place.
If a new owner/operator is secured, developers will prepare the new site, build a new foundation, and relocate the El Rancho structure. The new owner can then take over renovations and customization.
JLL will be hosting tours of El Rancho and the new location for interested parties on Aug. 27 and Sept. 3. The property has already garnered interest from potential buyers.
A new Marriott-branded hotel is also planned for the development site where El Rancho is proposed to be relocated.
