Bill Moyers, a renowned broadcast journalist known for his unwavering moral convictions, passed away at the age of 91 in Manhattan. Throughout his 43-year career, mostly on PBS, Moyers displayed a deep intellectual curiosity and a strong sense of idealism, always seeking to uncover the truth and give voice to the voiceless.

Moyers was a staunch critic of mainstream media, pointing out the bias inherent in their ownership by large corporations. He believed in the role of journalism in democracy and often provided a platform for dissenting voices from both the left and the right. His commitment to uncovering hidden truths and challenging powerful figures was unwavering.

Starting as White House press secretary under President Johnson, Moyers later transitioned to journalism, hosting the acclaimed program “Bill Moyers Journal” on PBS. He also had stints at CBS and NBC, where he delved into various aspects of creativity and interviewed prominent figures in the arts and culture.

In his later years, Moyers produced several documentary series for PBS, including “Joseph Campbell and the Power of Myth” and “The Language of Life,” showcasing his passion for exploring different facets of human expression and thought. He also hosted “Now With Bill Moyers” and “Moyers & Company,” discussing important issues such as religion, politics, and the environment.

Despite facing criticism for his liberal views, Moyers remained steadfast in his beliefs and continued to challenge the status quo. His contributions to journalism were recognized with numerous awards, including Emmys and a Lifetime Achievement Award. He was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1995 for his dedication to exploring critical issues facing society.
