Actor Faizon Love, most famous for his role in the holiday classic “Elf” alongside Will Ferrell, is currently facing legal trouble for allegedly assaulting a hotel clerk in San Diego. The incident occurred at the Sheraton Mission Valley on August 8th when Love was informed by the clerk that the room he booked was not available. Enraged by this news, Love reportedly threw a credit card machine at the clerk, hitting her on the left side of her head and causing her to suffer a concussion.
Following the altercation, the hotel employee sought medical attention and was diagnosed with a concussion. Love, on the other hand, took to Instagram the next day to express his frustration with the hotel app he used, claiming it was a scam. However, legal actions have been taken against him, with the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office filing a criminal complaint on September 25th and issuing a warrant for his arrest in October.
The victim of the assault has since filed a lawsuit against Love, seeking damages for her medical bills and the physical and emotional pain she endured as a result of the incident. Despite these developments, Love has not appeared in court, and a plea has not been entered on his behalf.
This is not the first time Love has been involved in a physical altercation. In 2017, he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge for assaulting a valet at an airport in Ohio. As a result, he was fined $500 and received a suspended jail sentence. The victim of that incident also sued Love and was awarded a substantial sum in damages and attorney fees.
As the legal proceedings continue, it remains to be seen how this latest incident will impact Love’s career and reputation. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
