Hulu is set to bring the Jack Jordan novel “Conviction” to life in a new series, with Elisabeth Moss taking on the lead role, as reported by Variety. Moss, known for her role in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” will not only star in the series but also executive produce under her Love & Squalor Pictures banner. David Shore, the creator of hit shows like “House” and “The Good Doctor,” is adapting the book for television and will serve as showrunner and executive producer.
“Conviction,” originally published in 2023, follows criminal defense attorney Neve Harper, played by Moss, as she takes on a high-profile murder case. As Neve delves deeper into the case, she finds herself entangled in a web of blackmail that forces her to compromise her morals and ethics in order to secure an acquittal and protect her dark secrets from being exposed.
Joining Moss and Shore as executive producers are Warren Littlefield, who has previously worked with Moss on “The Handmaid’s Tale,” and Erin Gunn. The series is being produced by 20th Television, with whom both Shore and Littlefield have overall deals.
Moss has garnered critical acclaim for her role in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” earning multiple Emmy nominations and wins for her performance. She is also set to star in the upcoming Apple TV series “Imperfect Women” alongside Kerry Washington and Kate Mara.
Shore, on the other hand, is best known for creating the popular medical drama “House” and the successful ABC series “The Good Doctor.” His track record in television includes writing credits for shows like “Sneaky Pete” and “Law & Order.”
In addition to “Conviction,” Jack Jordan is also developing a series based on his novel “Deception” with 20th Television. He is also working on an adaptation of the novel “Redemption” with Disney Entertainment’s International Originals EMEA team.
With Moss leading the cast and Shore at the helm, “Conviction” is shaping up to be an exciting new addition to Hulu’s lineup. Stay tuned for more updates on this gripping legal drama.
