Ellen Greenberg was declared dead from numerous stab wounds in her neck and head in 2011, classified as a suicide yet again … however, a forensic pathologist informs TMZ that this conclusion is “biomechanically implausible.”
Veteran investigator Joseph Scott Morgan appeared on “TMZ Live” Tuesday, expressing his disbelief at the ruling … “It was completely shocking, as the saying goes, you could’ve knocked me over with a feather.”
He added, “We assumed that the facts would lead to the right decision. None of us anticipated this outcome.”
As a reminder … Greenberg was a 27-year-old teacher from Philadelphia discovered lifeless by her fiancĂ©, having been stabbed 20 times in her neck and head, with a knife found lodged in her chest. Initially ruled a homicide, an assistant medical examiner later declared it a suicide.
In light of growing pressure from Greenberg’s family, Philadelphia’s Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Lindsay Simon has reaffirmed the suicide ruling, leaving Morgan puzzled.
“It’s biomechanically implausible,” he reiterated, adding, “There is no evidence of her being in a mental state that would provoke such extreme behavior.”
Morgan, who has served in law enforcement in New Orleans and Atlanta, noted that a neuropathologist had analyzed Greenberg’s brain stem and found no hemorrhage where the knife had penetrated.
He observed, “This scientifically suggests that the injuries could have occurred post-mortem.”
Morgan believes there’s a need for more transparency from officials regarding the case … “There has never been a press conference where the specific questions about this have been addressed. We want to know your reasoning behind this decision.”
TMZ reached out to the Medical Examiner to seek clarification on how they maintain that Ellen could have inflicted these wounds on herself … but no response has been received yet.
