On Wednesday, Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk took to X to announce a significant transition in his career—his stint as a “special government employee” has officially concluded.
Musk, who has become synonymous with innovation and controversy, was appointed to the Department of Government Efficiency, a creative endeavor aimed at advising the Trump administration on reducing government waste and tackling fraudulent spending.
In his post, Musk expressed gratitude, stating, “As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President Donald Trump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending.” He also emphasized that the “DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.”

According to Sky News, Musk’s announcement was not unexpected. He had previously indicated that his tenure at DOGE was intended to be brief.
After revealing his departure, Musk’s social media was inundated with messages of appreciation from supporters, who commended his efforts in the realm of governmental efficiency.
