Elon Musk Announces Departure from Trump Administration
Published
Elon Musk has announced that his tenure as a special government employee working with President Trump is coming to a close.
The billionaire entrepreneur shared the news of his impending departure from the Trump administration on his social media platform, X.
In his statement, Musk expressed gratitude to President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to contribute to reducing wasteful spending during his time as a Special Government Employee.
He also emphasized that the mission of @DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) will continue to strengthen and become integral to government operations.
Elon Musk played a significant role in leading DOGE since the beginning of the second Trump presidency in January. His term as a special government employee was set to expire this week.
As a designated special government employee, Musk had the flexibility to work within the government for 130 days while being exempt from certain ethical and conflict of interest regulations, which was about to conclude.
In a surprising turn of events, Musk’s decision to leave coincides with his public criticism of recent Trump legislation that the President has touted as a significant achievement.
Aside from his government involvement, Elon Musk remains actively engaged in overseeing his ventures at SpaceX, Tesla, Neuralink, and The Boring Company.
Best wishes to Elon as he transitions to new endeavors!
