Elon Musk’s Interview with CBS Sunday Morning: A Recap
Elon Musk recently sat down for an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, and things got off to an awkward start when reporter David Pogue asked him about his thoughts on Donald Trump’s policies, specifically the growing restrictions on international students. Musk quickly redirected the conversation back to the topic at hand, which was spaceships and not presidential policy.
Despite Pogue’s initial surprise, Musk remained firm in his stance, stating that he preferred to focus on the subject of spaceships rather than delve into political discussions. He did, however, touch on the controversy surrounding his Department of Government Efficiency, which has been making cuts across federal agencies and facing backlash as a result.
During the interview, Musk also discussed the interconnected nature of his various companies, which include SpaceX, Tesla, xAI, X (formerly Twitter), Neuralink, and The Boring Company. He described these businesses as entities that aim to improve the trajectory of civilization.
At the time of the interview, Musk was reportedly scaling back his government work to focus more on his companies. He expressed his commitment to continuing his involvement with DOGE, despite shifting his focus towards his business endeavors.
Following the interview, a clip of Musk criticizing a Trump-backed budget bill sparked a new cycle of its own. This led to Musk announcing his decision to step down as a special government employee, although Trump later suggested that Musk was not truly leaving his government role.
