X Announces Significant Price Increase for Premium+ Subscription Service

X is implementing a substantial 37.5% price hike for its top-tier subscription service, marking the most significant increase since the platform was acquired by Elon Musk in 2022.

Starting December 21, the cost of the Premium+ service in the U.S. will rise to $22 per month, up from the previous price of $16. Additionally, the annual subscription fee will increase to $229 from $168, as stated in a recent announcement by the company.

X has explained that the price adjustment is necessary to enhance the overall user experience provided by the platform. However, current subscribers will be able to maintain their existing rates until January 20.

Customers in international markets will also experience price increases, with the European Union seeing a rise in monthly fees to €21 from €16, and Canadian users facing an increase to $29 from $20 for the Premium+ service.

Certain markets, such as Nigeria and Turkey, will be significantly impacted by the price changes. Nigerian users will now have to pay ₦34,000 per month for X Premium+, up from ₦7,300, while Turkish subscribers will see their monthly fee jump to ₺770 from ₺300.

Despite the substantial increase for the Premium+ service, X’s basic subscription price will remain unchanged at $3 per month.
