Emily Sundberg, the talented writer known for her daily business and culture Substack newsletter, Feed Me, found love in an unexpected place in 2022. She matched with Jake Cohen, the head of finance at a tech company, on the dating app Hinge. At the time, Emily was busy directing a documentary titled The End, which focused on an island in the Hamptons. Jake impressed Emily with his clever movie references during their initial conversations, leading to a whirlwind romance that saw them going on two dates within two days.

Fast forward to 2024, the couple got engaged in a heartwarming moment while taking a walk in their neighborhood of Park Slope. Jake surprised Emily by proposing on their block, deviating from their usual routine of picking up dry cleaning and pastries together. The engagement ring, sourced with the help of a friend in the diamond business, was custom-made by jewelry designer Delaval Knight in London, known for his exquisite Art Deco designs. The proposal took place the day before Thanksgiving, and the couple spent the holiday celebrating with their families, who were eager to hear about their wedding plans.

The wedding planning process was a swift one, with the couple deciding to tie the knot just a few months after getting engaged. With family spread out between Long Island and Connecticut, they wanted a venue close to the city that offered a touch of nature. After exploring various options, they stumbled upon Nine Orchard, a hotel with a stunning rooftop in a historic building on the Lower East Side, which perfectly captured their vision for an outdoor celebration.

From a chance meeting on a dating app to a spontaneous engagement and a picturesque wedding venue, their relationship is a beautiful blend of serendipity and shared dreams. As they embark on this new chapter together, surrounded by love and support from their families and friends, Emily and Jake are ready to embrace whatever the future holds for them.
