Jimmy Kimmel didn’t hold back as he addressed the events of the previous night, calling it “a terrible night” for a multitude of groups. His emotional delivery struck a chord with viewers as he listed off those who had suffered, his voice breaking and tears welling in his eyes.

From women to children, hard-working immigrants to healthcare, climate, science, journalism, justice, and free speech – the list of casualties was extensive. The impact was felt by the poor, the middle class, seniors relying on Social Security, allies in Ukraine, NATO, truth, democracy, and decency.

Kimmel didn’t spare those who had voted for the president-elect either, cautioning them that they too would feel the repercussions, even if they didn’t realize it yet.

For more of Kimmel’s powerful words, be sure to watch his Wednesday night monologue.
